WHAT THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL NOT DO FOR YOU

In December, I stepped away from the blog so I could plan for the coming year. When the new year arrived and I sensed it was time to get back to work, I started giving excuses.

Second week, third week…. I sat there, believing it was God who wanted me not to take a move yet when I knew deep down that I was just lazy to pen down anything serious. What I should have done was, take laziness by the neck and kick it out of my life abi?

I began to convince myself that God might have me wait till March or April before re-opening the blog. The truth is, I was simply looking for a reason to fan my complacency. The more I stalled, the more I didn’t want to do anything.

One day like that, without listening to my feelings, I got up, opened my laptop and started scribbling down a story. Immediately, I felt strengthened to do more. Story ideas flowed into my head so much that I had to start praying for divine sequence to know which story to start with.

This is my point exactly. The Holy Spirit only strengthens and helps us as believers to do the things that has been placed in our hands. He will not do the work for us. When we see believers excelling in different spheres of influence, it is because they have allowed the Holy Spirit work through them.

The Holy Spirit will not write that business proposal for you. He will not apply for the scholarships or take those courses for you. The Holy Spirit will not open your mouth to make declarations of faith. He will not read your bible for you. He’ll empowers you to do all of these things but if you do not take a step to respond to his promptings, nothing for you o.

I know people have shared testimonies of the miraculous. They were just in their rooms and they received a call out of the blues and money was sent to their account. Some have shared testimonies of God’s intervention in different areas of their lives. Great. Awesome. Wonderful. But God understands processes.

You can’t do a shady work for a client and expect referrals just because you are a believer? Someone gives you a job to do and you do it terribly and the next time he gives the job to someone else and you make statements like, ‘whatever is mine will come to me in Jesus name’ Why deceive yourself? You should sit to learn how to do that job better.

It’s sad when I meet a believer who flies off the handle when corrected. How can you grow well career wise without constructive criticisms?

A believer cries and prays for progress in his business but by 9a.m, he is still walking around his house in his pyjamas and then you’ll hear him say, ‘This world is not my home, I’m just passing through.’ And when hunger show face, he runs back to God.

Some are excellent talkers. They can talk and talk about their plans and what they want to see happen, but they are not ready to leave their comfort zone.

Every decision and step we take in life, whether spiritual or physical requires a move.

Even salvation too. You believed right? We all had a choice to reject the gift of salvation but we accepted Christ into our lives.

We cry for spiritual growth which God also desires for us. The Holy Spirit opens your eyes to see that your association is a huge reason you are constantly being pulled into carnality or what you need to do is constantly confess the word and give time to prayer. But you’ll still find a person knowing all of solutions to his problems and not making a move to be involved in any of the spiritual activities yet he sits, waiting for the spectacular.

There are no short cuts in this matter. People don’t become successfully by accident, believers inclusive. Even the Pastors we respect so much because of the sound delivery of the word didn’t have the knowledge falling on them. There were hours spent in prayers and in the study of the Word.

Strength flows from Obedience. You take a step into what God is placing in your heart no matter how unpalatable it may seem at first, but if you keep at it, you’ll be amazed at how peaceful and fulfilling you’ll get.

Are you reading this post and you have already seen that you are out of divine plan for your life. Is the Holy Spirit nudging your heart towards certain things he wants you to do which will require you to make a complete turn from where you are at the moment?  Take a step of faith. You’ll only receive further direction as you obey the instruction already given to you.

Come and listen to what the Lord your God says…The priests will carry the Ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. As soon as their feet touch the water, the flow of water will be cut off upstream, and the river will stand up like a wall.’ Joshua 3: 9,13 NLT)

…And as soon the feet of the priests who were carrying the ark touched the water at the river’s edge, the water above that point began to back up a great distance away at a town called Adam, which is near Zarethan….Joshua 3:15, 16(NLT)

A successful believer is one who hears instructions from the Lord and follows them diligently.

We cannot ignore the fact that there are times God will show you certain assignments whose fulfillment is futuristic.  Even at that, you will not be left idle. There’ll be preparations that will take you to that point.

This year, we take responsibilities for our actions. We kick out complacency and take the bold step.

At the end of this year, we should look back at how we spent each moment and there should be the satisfaction that we obeyed God.

We must not wait for December to key into declarations like, ‘The months the cankerworm has eaten will be restored.’ Let’s kill the cankerworm now. It’s time to do what we are supposed to do.

Finally, that we encounter challenges on our career or ministerial path does not mean we are out of order in God’s plan. It might just be an opportunity to depend more on the Holy Spirit and reach into greater depths of the things of God.

On a lighter note…

My dear brothers, The Holy Spirit will not propose on your behalf. Isn’t it time to take that bold step and say to that beautiful sister,

‘Dear daughter of the most high, will you marry me?

And sister, how far? If you have your answer, why are you still waiting for the Holy Spirit to give you spectacular signs that he is the bro.

On a very serious note…

The first month of the year is gone. Are we walking in line with God’s divine purpose for our lives?

    1. Little gradual steps is how to deal with procrastination. Take your tasks one step at a time and do them repeatedly. Before long, they’ll become part of your life.
