I love Christmas and I love food. Apart from the fact that there would be food and drinks, it affords me the opportunity to reflect on Christ and the joy He brings. It reminds me of the humanity of Jesus. The fact that he ate, talked, felt our pain and did the regular stuff like every other human is amazing.

While you are grilling the chicken and frying the rice and arranging orisirisi drinks into your refrigerator, can you also not forget the food for the soul? I mean, this is the only kind of meal that strengthens the spirit man, that is, for every one who has accepted the offer of salvation. On my table is served seven healthy meals for your soul. Most of the meals were prepared by Jesus himself. Pick your choice. You can feed on all if you want.

My stomach’s churning. Can we get started with these healthy meals for our soul? Take your time to chew slowly… Are you ready?

1. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, It is finished: and he bowed his head and gave up the ghost. John 19:30

Here comes the basis of our deliverance. After Christ carried all of our sins in Himself, He bowed his head and said, ‘It is finished.’ This brought an end to the power of sin over our lives and now we can stand in victory. Halleluyah!

Once we receive him, we gain connection to the Father and we become adopted into the family of God. We can also come boldly to the throne of grace and speak to our Father. The benefits are just too numerous.

2. But the angel said, Be not alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen! Look, this is where they laid his body…Mark 16: 6

What more can I say? Jesus is alive! Even though we are celebrating his entrance into this world, this day cannot pass without remembering that the reason He came down to earth in the first place has been fulfilled. By reason of His resurrection, we have also been raised to walk in newness of life.

3. Abide in me and I in you, as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine, no more can ye except ye abide in me. John 15:4

We are nothing without Jesus. It is in Him we live and move and have our being. As we continually practice his presence and feed on his words, we will begin to see the fruit of righteousness blossom  through us.

4.Jesus saith unto him,  I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes unto the Father but by me. John 14:6

When an unbeliever approached one of my friends saying he had no issue with the existence of Jesus, only that like other religions, Jesus was one of the ways to God, my friend was quick to rebuff that.

Jesus is the only way to the Father. You cannot get to God except through Jesus. It’s as simple as that. It takes believing in Jesus and confessing him as your Saviour to gain eternal life. We have come to accept this truth and nothing can ever change this for us. Jesus is our life. He is the reason we live. In Him is the truth. Anyone can claim to know the truth, but it is in Jesus alone that truth can be found.

4. Jesus said unto them, I am the light of the world, he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.  John 8:12

These words have comforted me on days that I have been confused about making certain decisions. There is a confidence this scripture gives to me. As long as my eyes are set on Jesus, I will not be confusion. I receive clarity in my life as I follow him. .

5. And all things whatsoever ye ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Matthew 21:22.

This is one promise you should remind yourself this season. The year is running to an end. Are you already giving up? Won’t you lay hold on God’s promises again? Our faith has found a resting place and it is in the fact that we trust that when we ask anything in faith, we will receive.

6. Take heed and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consists not in the abundance of the things which He possesses. Luke 12:15

Here is another reminder for us this season. As believers, we are warned to desist from the love of money. Our focus should be in doing the will of God because that’s the only thing that will stand at the end of the day. There is nothing wrong in making money but don’t make it an idol.

7. And He arose and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace be still. And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39

When Jesus spoke to the storm that day when those words were uttered, he was teaching us a lesson to speak to the storm in our lives. The authority has been given to us. Let’s use it.

Which of the meals are you chewing today? Which other healthy meals do you enjoy, that the very thought of it brings joy to your heart. Do share the scripture with me in the comment box below..

Compliments of the Season.
